Description

The boat was only about an inch long, so I found some very small plant roots to place it on ^.^

Alright this is my first critique so be gentle, okay?
Wait i think that's not how it goes...

Anyways.
First off: I love boats and ships, both as the incredible crafts they tend to be and as a symbol.

The visual impact is top-notch. A somewhat conventional but nonetheless good composition, the high contrast and especially the contained use of colors make it a visually very appealing image.

One could argue that everything has been made somewhere and somehow already, thus rendering the Originality rating a little pointless. At least to a certain degree i have to agree with that statement but it is this explicit execution of an idea i want to focus on:
For starters there is the colors. I love how you used them to both create great visuals and convey a feeling. Though blue obviously is the dominating color you did not completely abstain from other colors. The subtle red and brown on the roots breathe a lot more life into the picture and prevent it from declining into a genuinely cold, harsh mood.
But let's not forget about what i deem the central aspect of the whole capture: the roots themselves. Thought the ship is an eye-catching feature and would be visually stunning alone, it is the combination of both, the vessel and the curvy forms and shapes of the fauna that really get me here.
The roots are so organic, so dynamic they substitute for brawly waves.
That is the real magic about this image in my opinion.

About technique:
You do know what you are doing, no doubt, so ill keep this short.
The only real critique here would be the DoF for me. It is good dont get me wrong. I do think a completely sharp sail (the middle part) would have added even more to the picture.

Last but not least:
I was blown away.
I saw it and i loved it, maybe partly because of my passion for sea vessels, but definitely becasue it is a really really good piece of art.
