Lovely photo! I love the position you captured the ladybug in, the way it's angled makes it seem like its on a journey or a mission to somewhere. I also like how you used the right rule of thirds, as the spacing on the left contributes to that "journey" feeling. 
The shallow DOF works wonderfully for this photo! The blurred background helps the ladybug to stand out, and it also creates some interesting bokeh. I love how the lines lead your eyes to the bug as well
I must admit, though I love the idea with the background, it is distracting to the eye. The different shades can be a good thing, but since the ladybug is so small in this photo it's hard to focus on just that. Perhaps you could've zoomed in a little closer or cropped it differently to make it more appealing to the eye.
